Tapebank’s camera operator and editor Mike Walker is available freelance to cover your event or project. With a background in audio as well as video production he can work as a single camera operator or could organise multi-camera shoots for larger events supplying extra cameras and a vision mixer.
Mike started life as a professional musician and then in the mid 1980’s turned recording engineer. He started recording promotional material, demos and albums for fellow musicians and entertainers and also produced hundreds of backing tracks for the entertainment industry, hence the name Tapebank.
He studied photography at Kitson College In Leeds and decided to use this knowledge coupled with his customer’s requests to produce promotional material and showreels on video. He bought his first professional video camera in 1987 and Tapebank Digital Video was born. Since then he has had his work assessed by The Institute of Videography and passed, gaining Fellowship (the highest status) by the UK’s largest and most established organisation representing all video professionals.
Mike has been involved with many projects over the years, working alongside The BBC, Sky Sports and Yorkshire Television. In the corporate sector he has been involved with filming and editing for companies such as The Hilton Group, Powergen, Yorkshire Water, Axa Insurance and many others. In sport Mike has produced many information and recruitment videos for the Rugby Football League including “Respect” and filmed “From Cubs to Lions” (in association with Dave King). He has also filmed for the Amateur Boxing Association, the Rugby Football Union and many other football and rugby clubs including the Bradford Bulls producing their award winning “Bradford Bulls in the Community”.

Mikes'
quality of production was also recognised by receiving a Fellowship from the Institute
of Videography, the highest
possible status after submitting further copies of his work to the
panel for assessment.
The Institute of Videography is the
UK's longest and largest established organisation representing all
video Professionals.
Mike works freelance for many Audio Visual and training companies including - Amplitude, VME, Imagine You Can and Universal. He is also Camera Supervisor and Editor for BIG-TV LTD the stage and screen hire company who have an excellent reputation for being the best and most professional in the industry, now working on a regular basis for the BBC outside broadcast as well as Setanta Sports and Channel Five OB.
